Currently being almost completely rebuilt with construction scheduld to be completed by March 2012! Will have all new walls, including more glass for even more spectacular ocean and beach views, new floors with radiant heating, redesigned bedrooms, incredible new kitchen, dining room, and living room! Surrounded by the Pacific on 3 sides, you will lose yourselves in the rolling waves, sea stacks, sea birds, passing whales, porpoises, and frolicking seals. This house is at one of the most magnificent spots in Humboldt County and just 1.5 miles from Trinidad, California! Walk down to the Luffenholz Beach, which is right out your backyard, or walk another 5 minutes to Houda Point and Camel Rock, great surf spots and beaches - and stroll along the beach for miles all of the way to Clam Beach or Vista Point! Walk right out the door, jump on your bike and head off and explore the coastline, Trinidad, Patrick's Point State Park, Arcata Bottoms farmlands and the Mad River Beach and Dunes. All of these things without even getting in your car! A wireless internet card is available for rental. The 2.5 bedroom (loft, bedroom and nook), 2 bath house is skirted with a wonderful deck which features outdoor seating and lounging, and perfect sea-life viewing. The second level has a bedroom, master loft-bedroom and 1 bath, with one of the loft sitting above the living room and having views of both the outside and the large open fireplace. The first floor has an open living room, kitchen, dining area, bedroom nook, and a bathroom. ** $10 discount per night/$60 per week discount for those paying with check or cash. The house includes a barbeque, satellite TV, washer/dryer, and a stereo system that can use an iPod - but you'll want to spend your time enjoying the views of the surf! BTW, the band "Skid Row" stayed here in February 2011.

  Hi Laura. Yes, we agree the property is in need of a major overhaul which it is getting beginning July 8th, 2011! The entire inside is being gutted and completely rebuilt. We will try to put pictures of the new design online.

Wonderful home, the view is spectacular and listening to the ocean while falling to sleep is so peaceful. Had a slight plumbing problem but the management company jumped right on it and took care of it right away. This was our second time renting this home and hopefully not our last!

We arrived after dark and my family thought the house was old and spooky. My wife hated the dirty carpet. Look's like it was built in the 70's and therer have been few updates to the interior since. The next morning when we woke up everyone was in awe of the amazing view. The property is perched on a steep hill overlooking the ocean. We put up with the fact that the property was rough around the edges because of the view and location. There's a sign on the house that the owner has a pending permit to remodel the property. That would be awesome and $'s well spent.

Pura Vida has a simply breathtaking view of the Pacific ocean. The secluded location is perfect for a quiet get-away. Our only regret was that we only booked the house for two nights. We would go back in a heartbeat. We absolutely loved Pura Vida and Trinidad!

We had a very nice stay....The only little problem we had was the cable for the TV keeped cutting out, so we couldn"t really watch anything on the TV, so we just went and bought some DVD's and watched them. We love visiting this property. The house sits on a bluff above the beach. It is the perfect location for a North Coast Beach getaway. Our kids ages 6 and 9 love playing on the rocks or in the sand and we love the views and hunting for agates. There are a number of short hikes within a short drive. I believe this was our third year renting the property and I'm sure we will be back.

We arrived at Pura Vida late at night and couldn't see the magnificent view that awaited us. It was a great treat to wake up and be in that awe inspiring setting. We were able to sun on the deck and completely soak in its glory. The den is really nice and beds were comfortable enough, so we slept well. It's a great location for zipping to the National and State parks and local beaches were great. The kitchen and bathrooms are a little dated, but heard the kitchen is about to get a remodel. The only negative was the hot tub. The hot tub had been cleaned and was ready for us before our week long stay, but someone snuck onto the property and decided to dip in the tub prior to our arrival. It was very dirty. However, management and maintenance came over that same evening, cleaned it, and we were able to get in it the next evening (which is a real treat with that view). All in all the view is worth the stay.

Went for College Graduation, taking both sets of grandparents. They enjoyed the view and sounds of the ocean. Had a wonderful time, views were breathtaking. Just a short walk to the beach below. Home was supplied with all you needed to cook meals, or there were many restaurants nearby. Already checking calendar for our next visit, can't wait!!!

Perfect spot, right on the ocean and next to the beach. Views from every window and spacious decks for outside relaxation and dining. Very comfortable furniture and kitchen is well equipped.
Bring your camera, as the scenery is the best on the north coast. (waves,rocks,birds,pink and blue sunrises, and awesome sunsets.)

Although the house itself is not aesthetically pleasing, the location and views are unbeatable. Everything in the house worked, except glitches with the hot tub. The staff resolved the issue quickly. The house was very clean, but I felt more comfortable after running the dishes and cookware through the dishwasher. The rental agents need to update their information letter with the changed combination for opening the jacuzzi. We found the new combination hand-written on the last page in one of the three information binders, but only after my husband had disassembled the cable (which we did reassemble before we left).

The house was so beautiful and open. The reservation process was easy, and the employees were very helpful, and answered every question. The only bummer was the house said it slept 8, but the 7th and 8th person had to sleep on a air matress.

The kids could not believe thier eyes as they jumped around with excitement with the beautiful view from the deck. The sounds of the waves and the view of the seals and other marine life was a perfect getaway. We will definitely be back to this great house!

The house was great but a few minor details could be looked into...needs to be dusted for cobwebs more often, view is main selling point so the windows needed to be washed, a vacuum for longer staying guests would be helpful, regular garbage pickup necessary for longer stay guests, kindling needed to go with firewood.

  We will replace the BBQ and we noted when we went to clean the jacuzzi that the breaker was out. It is working now. If you would have called us, we would have taken care of the jacuzzi immediately. I'm glad you enjoyed the rest, though.

Overall this is a nice house in a spectacular location. We appreciated the well stocked kitchen and nice touches like flowers and good magazines and books to read. However, the beds were small and not very comfortable. I would have to know that the beds had been upgraded (a king in the master bed/loft and a queen in the laundry room bedroom) to stay here again.
Timeless, relaxing, can't wait to return.

There is alot of attention placed on cleaning up and taking care of the house. There should be instructions on how to use the television, how to use the hot tub, and some curtains for the bedroom windows. Everyone was very nice, however it would have been easier with better directions.

The number one thing about this house is the location. It is exeptional! Lufenholz Beach is right at your doorstep and it is one of Humbolt County's best private beaches. The house itself is ok, it provides all the basic comforts. The hotub is very nice and it has a nice fireplace. But besides that there are not too many ammenities within the house.

A large comfortable house in an ideal location. Only issue is there are only 2 real bedrooms. There is a futon in the laundry room/back door hall to garage but no one wanted to sleep there. We used the aerobed and someone slept on the couch to accomadate persons #5,#6 and #7.

We spent 3 nights at Pura Vida and could not be happier. The house was in a great location. The only problem was the water pressure--not much. But the view and location made up for that.
