  Some friends and I came from Sacramento to run in the 2012 Clam Beach Race. We chose this house because of its beauty, space and location to town and the ocean. We were walking distance to the race shuttles as well as the beach. We walked to the beach for sunset and then enjoyed the hot tub and night. The beds are comfortable and the surrounding are private and gorgeous. We were to check out the morning after the race but were sore and moving slow. We called the manager and he allowed us to take our time and check out a little late. We all agreed we would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to friends and family too.

  We had a great time at the Paloma Creek Lodge, and the staff was very responsive and helpful when we had issues (the hot water heater turned off). My only frustration with the arrangements were that the website says the house sleeps 12. My party of 12 rented the house, everything seemed fine, and then when we checked in we realized that the house actually sleeps 8, and the other two beds are in the detached cabin that you have to pay extra for. The cost of the additional cabin was not very much, but I was surprised that the reservation staff didn't ask us if we wanted to rent it, given that we had 12 adults in our party. We did rent the cabin for one of the nights, and the second bed in the detached cabin is actually a pullout loveseat - not actually big enough for 2 people, so perhaps the place should actually be advertised as sleeping 11. It seems like it would be better to have the website advertise the PCLodge as sleeping 8 in the house, or up to 11 if the extra cabin is also rented. Just so people aren't surprised or scrambling for bedding and places to sleep people at the last minute, which we had to do. Other than that it was a great weekend.

    Thank u for the suggestion! We are changing it on the site so it very clearly says that the main house has 2 queens, 1 king, 2 twins, and a queen futon that goes on the floor for a total of 10 in the main house, and then the studio sleeps 3 if people want to rent it.

  We loved Paloma Creek and had a lovely time. I do have a few suggestions:
  1. Get some good darts, if there is a game room the equipment should be usable
  2. We couldn't find ping pong balls either, again if you advertise these things they must be usable.
  3. Mention in advertising that the hottub is a two per tub. For a house for that many people we were a little dismayed about the size of tub.
  These things didn't upset us and we had a great time anyway, just a suggestion.

  Mike and the crew at Redwood Coast Vacation Rentals made for such an amazing weekend! My wife was graduating from the nursing program at HSU and this made for an unforgettable surprise where her entire family was able to visit and/or stay at this spacious house. We found much to do in the 2 days spent at there. Between much eating, drinking, laughing, playing pool, sitting out by the fire, grilling on the outdoor BBQ, relaxing in the hot tub, listening to music or strolling down to the beach, we couldn't have asked for much more for our 12 people in the main house, us two in the adjacent studio and those that came to visit. The house was well-equipped with everything needed (including firewood), the place was clean and Mike was very accommodating by letting me tour the house weeks in advance to give our guests an idea of where they were coming to from out of town. My wife was as pleased as she was surprised to find her family waiting there for her. I'm pretty sure it was a great graduation weekend (with amazingly warm December weather!)and would hope to return in the future.

  We were there for our daughter's wedding with a total of 5 couples. Each had their own bedroom (with the guest house included)and was very comfortable. The ammenities were awesome with the pool table, foosball table and outside ping pong table made for
  fun entertainment. Access to the beach was only a short walk down a tree lined path. The house is tucked back in and secluded yet within walking distance to the grocery store and close to great restaurants. Very beautiful!!

  We stayed a Paloma Creek in August and were delighted with the wooded location and easy beach access. My kids absolutely loved the decks, playroom, and hot tub. We adults appreciated the stocked books/games, satellite TV, and WiFi access. The property was clean, but it could use a little renovating. The kitchen was great and the rooms comfortable. Closet space is a little of an issue, as is heat in the front of the house and upstairs. The house smells a little musty at first, but once we opened it up, it was fine. Hard not to have musty with all the fog and mist and rain in the mornings. All in all a 4 out of 5 for us. Helpful property manager, great location, good kitchen, great deck, gameroom, hot tub, beach access and the world's prettiest forest as your backyard. The rest is minute and maybe I'm just getting old and miss my own home too much:)

  Paloma Creek Lodge was absolutely perfect! We stayed here with friends from out of the area and we all felt like we were on a magical and exotic vacation. We had a tiny wedding ceremony in the yard nestled in the redwoods ~ it was so beautiful that the backdrop of forest almost looks fake in the pictures. Walking to the beach and enjoying the decks, the hot tub, the fire pit and the game tables made for endless entertainment and an all around perfect weekend! Thank you so much!!!

    Thank you. Yes, we just redid the entire bottom driveway with new concrete and just finished all of the prep work for the painting of the entire exterior. It should look really good - will have new photos of the exterior as soon as the painting is completed. We also finished a new wood floor in the kitchen...

  Best Vacation ever! 7 days in May 2011 Location is wonderful close to the water & lots of trees. Paloma Creek has lots of space, no-one feels cramped, we were 10 adults. Good indoor-outdoor spaces.   The Lodge is perfect for our large group. There are many things for the youth to be involved in, when we are not down at the beach. It was nice to see flat screen T.V.'s available in most of the rooms. The kitchen and dining room being opened up was a postive change from last year. We had intended to have somemores at the fire ring, but were so busy with the hot tub, beach and game room that it didn't happen. The pool and fooseball table was a big hit this year. In the game room, the music was playing (loud),there was singing and dancing and the game tables were being used, yet it was still peaceful in the livingroom. A suggestion for improvement would be not to have carpet around the one toilet. Thank you, for the wonderful stay.

  We rented the house for a woman's retreat and had a wonderful time. The house was great and there were improvements made since I first saw it last summer. The property manager responded quickly when we has issues w/ the heater in the small exterior room. There were two small problems, one was out of any one's control and that was a 10 hour power outage due to PG&E working on the local system and shutting down everyone's power and the second was the heater issue which was addressed within an hour of our phone call. We will definitely be returning next year!

  We recently stayed at Paloma Creek Lodge, creating a mini-family reunion around my son's final HSU football games. Delighted to have lots of family and friends join us ranging in age from 3 to 80+ years...a dozen of us comfortably slept at Paloma, while the other 13 were housed at Best Western Arcata Inn. My son and several of his friends join us, too, for a couple dinners.
  
  We were able to gather together at the house for meals, visiting, games and general merriment! The November weather was spotty from pouring rain to patchy sun, so we did not use the outside areas as much as one might in better weather. However, the hot tub was a lovely retreat even when it was sprinkling.
  
  The great thing about this house is the sweet variety of spaces--some of our group could be relaxing by the fireplace watching TV or reading, others surrounded the dining room table for card games, while some were upstairs playing pool or darts, and still more of our group found friendly spaces to just hang out in the kitchen or deck--there was something and somewhere for everyone.
  
  We would highly recommend this rental unit. We mainly worked with Heather and Mike who were friendly and accommodating as we were making our arrangements and while we were on location.

  We came from Colorado and Oregon to enjoy a seaside family reunion. The house was great- bring a spare set of King size sheets and you'll be able to put two of the twin size beds together to make 3 "couple's beds" in the house. Bring a carafe for coffee too- the pot is slow... The steps to the beach were a little much for all of us- so we went up to the beach by the SeaScape Restaurant. All-in-all nice stay though! Hot tub was great, and kitchen and dining room got plenty of use. Thank you!

  We had a great stay at the lodge. It was the perfect place for our family reunion. There was plenty of room in the house for all 12 people to sleep, and lots of room to lounge around, too. We had fun playing pool, darts, fuzball, and ping pong, and especially hanging out in the hot tub. The lodge is very private (in terms of neighbors) but has very thin curtains (so we had to leave the lights off in the room when we changed clothes at night...otherwise our family members could see right into the room.) I'd recommend thicker curtains to the management, but other than that, everything was terrific. The kitchen was stocked and easy to use, and it was nice to be able to eat inside or on the porch. There's even a campfire circle. All of our family members were pleased with the lodge and the town of Trinidad. So much fun to hike down to the beach, right from the lodge. Thanks so much!!!!!

  The property was perfect for our family reunion. Plenty of space to spread out, and great activities indoors and out. The property manager, Mike, was extremely kind and responsive to our needs. The ocean really isn't visible from the house, but the setting is nestled in a tree-lined valley, only a 3-5 minute walk from the beach (which is also amazing - beautiful shoreline, seals, river otters, etc...). The place is a kids paradise. My only complaint, which others have mentioned, is lack of curtains. Everyone was consistently up at the crack of dawn because all the rooms were too bright.

  This was such a great place for our students to stay at for their "Annual Coast Trip"! Since the trip, I have had many adults ask me about how they could rent this beautiful home. I found each room to have its own special charm. When watching T.V in the living room, we were not able to hear those playing pool in the game room. The windows, view and privacy is wonderful.   Maybe need some matches somewhere in the living room to light the wood stove. The couch needs to be cleaned, smells like milk spilled on it. All in all house was great and I would definitely rent again!!

  This house has a lot of character and plenty of entertainment. Nine of us were easily accomodated in the various bedrooms, although seating all of us in the dining room was a bit tight. It's hard to find a property that will take a group this size, and we had a great time playing pool, darts, foosball, pingpong, etc. The setting is wonderful, with easy access to the beach and lots of windows to enjoy views of the beautiful secluded area. The market and resaurants are also close by.
  
  There were a few gripes. The most serious was a moldy smell in the game room and the separate studio. Also, the lack of window coverings in some bedrooms and bathrooms is unfortunate. We didn't try the spa, as the water was a bit green and smelly.
  
  Overall we enjoyed our stay. It's a remarkable property and a great place for a big group to stay together.

    Thank you for the kind words. The rain can make moldy smells tough sometimes, but we have worked hard to reduce them as much as possible in all of our properties. We will recheck this for those rooms and get the dehumidifier going more. Also, we have had mixed interest from people for window coverings as they block the views. We are going to put it up in the bathroom but make it easy enough for people to leave it open if they see fit. Also, we've never had an issue with the hot tub before. I spoke with the professional agency that handles it and they were surprised. IN the future, just call us and we'll head over there right away to drain it and get it going right away for you.Thank you again for your feedback!

  We had a great time, the amount of space was perfect. My only complaints (hence the 3 stars for "property's general condition") were the hot water heater wasn't on when we arrived (we simply had to locate and light the pilot light), and the cabin room had quite the musty smell which lingered. Incense helped. :) Some instructions on the heater in the pool room would have been helpful. But overall we had a great time and those little things didn't take away from a fabulous family visit.     We didn't notice the musty smell in the cottage - it may have been the propane. And the hot water propane getting relit should not be required as we've since changed the fitting that casued the issue.

  We had a great time and the pictures on the web do not do the place justice. The Paloma Creek lodge is a beautiful place. The only suggestion we have is pushing back the check out time and hour or two. I would be nice to have a little more time to get out of there.

  The only complaint is a rock grouping at the top of the drive way which made it hard to back up without running into the rocks. Also there are lots of spider webs in the window near the front door. But what a great spot. We appreciate the location and the help getting the heat started.

  The lodge was a fantastic place for the dozen of us who came from all over the US, from ages 8 to 91, from agile to frail. We made great use of the large deck, jacuzzi tub, many trails to the beach and area, large living room with large screen TV (for the BIG GAME), & well-supplied kitchen. Management was very quick and helpful when we needed another bed and more towels, and cleaned the jacuzzi before & while we were there. Everything was clean. Large windows everywhere offered fantastic views of the surrounding redwoods. Paths to beach were great for most except the oldest and less able -- long, somewhat steep, with many steps, although it didn't bother young & healthy. Many private places to go from balconies, to little off-shoot private decks, to near-by fire pit. Two minutes to highway and less to local market - very convenient, but felt secluded. Grandma would have liked curtains for windows in the bathroom as the deck extended outside. We blocked it off. We would have enjoyed a few games or cards supplied in the Entertainment room, but the place is newly remodeled so I guess that will come. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

  This house has tons of character and charm. Our extended family of 9 adults was very comfortable with the arrangements, and the beach trail, floor plan, and privacy were wonderful. The flowers and wine upon arrival was greatly appreciated. I would stay there again...and again.

    We work very hard to make sure all of our homes are very clean and sanitary. I understand that the hot tub, which is drained weekly, should have been drained again. We did take care of it as soona s we were notified.

  The pool table upstairs and the fire pit was great to have. There were no window coverings on the bedroom windows so I was not able to sleep in while on vacation. We had a great time and enjoyed this unique house very much.

  This was a great house for a large group. Even with 12 people we were never crowded. There was so much to do that the kids were never bored. They played ping-pong and pool and even learned to throw darts. We were here for my son's wedding and couldn't have picked a better place.
