  If you seek splendid isolation far from the hustle and bustle, this location is ideal. It's a long drive from most amenities, and the access road from 101 is mostly unpaved and long. But once you arrive it's peaceful, quiet and relaxing. The site isn't conducive to lots of daily coming and going by car, but it's well situated to most outdoor recreation spots along the north Humboldt coast. The bedrooms are quite comfortable. The living room is less furnished. The kitchen is modern but bring extra kitchenware. There's plenty of deck space overlooking the ocean and surrounding forest.

  Awesome getaway - 15 minutes from small town, but feel like you are completely remote. From the decks (3, 1 main and a private deck for each bedroom) and the cupola, all you can see is ocean, beach and forest and all you can hear is surf and birds. Multiple great places to hike the redwoods within 10-30 minutes, and everything in the place is new, clean and well thought out. A local red wine and two glasses greeted us on the granite counter and an elk walked up our driveway. Perfect for a couple, two couples or family getaway. If I go back to that part of the country, this is where I want to stay.

  Absolutely loved most everything about the stay, including working with the property management for a couple of needs (they were very accomodating and available); the property is truly heaven; the views spectacular as well! The main picture doesn't do the property justice, much more beautiful in person. I will stay again in the future.
  
  Keep in mind there is truly no cell service there - there is internet available (wireless too).
  
  I would say, for me, the beds were way too firm, so if you like firm... you'll love the beds. The bedding made it comfortable though. The house has everything you would need, including privacy, wildlife, amazing views, beautiful peace and quiet.

  This place was absolutely amazing. The best part is no cell reception! The only thing I would recommend to the owners is maybe some sort of manual on how to work the sound system! lol

  My wife and I along with another couple had the privilege of spending two nights at Serenity. We arrived after dark on our first night and really enjoyed the mysterious drive up to the secluded property that evening. We were impressed the minute we walked into the home. We wished we could have stayed an entire week!!! It was very foggy every day until the early afternoons, but that was fine because the afternoon and evening views make up for it!!!! The amenities of the home are impressive from corner to corner and we'll certainly rent this property again in the future. The price we paid for the property was also very reasonable.

  This property is well named. From the moment we walked in I could feel myself relax. We turned on the whole house stereo while we unpacked the car then enjoyed the sunset from the deck. The house is well appointed and very relaxing. The first day we didn't even leave but explored the property and napped in the sun on the porch. The house is located about midway between Trinidad & Orick and close to both the beach & the Redwoods. My only regret is that we only booked 3 nights. We will be back...soon. Thanks for the experience.

  Thank you for sharing your wonderful home (June 2011). We enjoyed all your beautiful amenities and they all contributed to an outstanding vacation. The location of the property is perfect - a quick drive to the wonderful parks and trails as well as the wonderful market in Trinidad. The view of the big lagoon/ocean was magnificent and we enjoyed the mix of sun, fog and stars from the large deck. Your location choice was well thought out and appreciated. The architecture and the luxury touches inside were all excellent choices that include a well stocked and easy kitchen, an outstanding shower and Jacuzzi tub, quality washer/dryer, and a fantastic large grill. The upright piano next to the spiral staircase was fun and sang beautifully in the sharp light of the setting sun. The integrated television/sound system and Wi-Fi were all fine additions to our overall experience. I would rate the Serenity five stars and easily accommodated two adults and one child or two couples. We highly recommend this home as a place to enjoy and as a base to explore the best of the Redwood forest. Thank you again for sharing your home, it was a beautiful part of a memorable family vacation and we appreciate the experience.

  The instructions for leaving Hwy 101 from the south are incorrect. Would have been helpful to know where the thermostat is in the house. The switch for the disposal is placed awkwardly and is right next to the light switch. Insstructions would have been helpful.

  The house is fantastic! The eco friendly environment provided a feast for the eyes and a peaceful stay in the wooded area. The ocean outside the window could be seen each day as the fog subsided. The gourmet kitchen and outdoor grill provided the comforts of home and more.
  
  Be prepared for a technology withdrawl. The Internet connection never made it as well as the dish connection. After the first few days, our brains adjusted to the withdraw from the larger world. We should do it more often I think.
  
  This was a wonderful vacation and hope to stay again in the future.

    Internet has been much better through the satellite company (new dish) and we now have satellite tv an a great stereo system throughout the house with central controls. But I agree, sometimes getting away from the emails, etc, can be great! Especially if you choose to do that while at this quiet, private home.

  We liked the house alot. Quite, peaceful location. The view was outstanding the few times the fog lifted. I think spring or fall would be better for this location. We might even try to make it back for early oct.
  The only negative is the lack of cellular reception. It is something that should be included in the property description.

    Spring or fall might be better for less fog. In terms of cell phone reception, many do work including Verizon and US Cellular. I think AT&T does not work up there, but not positive. Also, this house is so beautiful and so remote, isn't it nice to not have to take calls?
