Sanctuary Home on YouTube Sanctuary is an exclusive vacation home for those seeking a peaceful, uniquely tranquil experience where the beauty of art, architecture, and nature nourish the body and soul. The first U.S.built home designed by renowned West Vancouver architect, Brian Hemingway and built by Thomas Noonan Construction culminates the owner's 20-year vision and plan for a spectacular coastal retreat. The style and craftsmanship of this home has been described as a piece of "green" artwork combining the natural elements of wood, glass, and slate to harmonize with the surrounding redwoods and unparalleled coastal views from Trinidad Head to Arcata and Eureka from virtually every room. Expansive outdoor decks and bedroom terraces allow enjoyment of ocean breezes while the interior architectural details will enthrall guests and transcend every climactic condition outside. This spectacular home does offer 1 night free when booking for a week. Arrival times are restricted to before 8 pm because a representative from our company will meet you at the property upon your arrival. The home is equipped with a full laundry room with brand new Maytag Neptune washer and dryer, wireless internet access, high definition audiovisual systems including two large screen LCD TVs, state of the art Electrolux kitchen appliances, radiant floor heating, two gas fireplaces and an outdoor gas barbeque. Three bedrooms, one with a king bed and the other two with queen beds contain their own bathrooms and a fourth small "bunkroom" is ideal for kids with two single beds. The main master suite has a wall of glass to take in the most amazing ocean view. The bathroom features double sinks, a towel warmer rack, a walk in shower with three shower heads, and an ocean view sitting area. Large custom-made door panels in the living areas and bedrooms open indoor spaces to the outside. Huge concrete patio deck area with perimeter seating. Sanctuary is located one mile south of Trinidad on the Scenic Drive bluff 10 minutes from the Arcata/Eureka Airport, providing commercial and private jet service from LA, Redding & Portland. It is a ten minute hike to secluded and pristine Baker Beach and a short drive to many other fabulous flat and rocky beaches in the area. Within a 10 minute drive north, you have access to multiple natural attractions such as Trinidad Head Trail, Patrick's Point State Park, Agate Beach, Redwood National Park including Lady Bird Johnson Grove, PrairieCreek State Park, Fern Canyon and herds of Roosevelt elk. To the south, explore Humboldt State University and Arcata, Old Town, Eureka, the Eureka Waterfront, and the Victorian Village of Ferndale. Trinidad harbor supplies charter boats for ocean fishing, sightseeing, and whale watching excursions depending upon season while the Trinity, Klamath, Eel andMad Rivers offer world class trout, steelhead and salmon fishing as well as river rafting and kayaking. Excellent restaurants abound in Trinidad, Arcata, and Eureka. Your choice-relax on the decks and simply enjoy the surroundings or explore the wild north coast and return to your "Sanctuary." Sorry, but no RV's allowed. Out of respect and kindness to the neighbors, we are unable to allow large gatherings at any of our homes. We apologize for any inconvenience.

There is no way to tell anyone who has not stayed at "The Sanctuary" what an incredible place it truly is. My "New Wife" and I were married there on March 12th, 2012, overlooking an amazing view of the ocean and it's rocky coast. There were only 5 of us present plus the officiant and photographer so we obeyed the contract rules, but have photos and wonderful memories that will last forever.
The house is similar to a Frank Lloyd Wright design that is not only beautiful, but creates an almost spiritual feeling by its sheer existence.
The ocean views from every room are so indescribable and peaceful that you could sit for hours marveling at their amazing beauty.
Our guest/chef was very pleased with the well stocked kitchen which only added to our delight.
This was the perfect place for our small, intimate wedding and we will definitely rent it again.
Heather, from Redwood Coast Vacation Rentals was very prompt, friendly and made the whole experience very easy and pleasant.
Thank you to the owners of this amazing property for sharing it with us. It helped make our "Special Day" even more magical!

We loved this home. The view is breathtaking and the house is so beautiful. We spent the first hour just walking from room to room, absorbing the fine attention to details. And to wake up each morning to that spectacular view! Wow! My only complaint would be,if you have children, the room with the bunk beds seems like an afterthought and is more like a closet. But for the grown ups, this house is a delicious treat. We are definitely returning!

Our 10 day holiday at the sanctuary was an experience the family all enjoyed. The views are amazing from almost all rooms and the layout of bedrooms afforded the four generations their privacy. The management proved extreemly helpful from needs at the home to suggesting restaurants and other family venues. We also rented the little cottage across the driveway for several days to accomodate the size of our family. It was home away from home. The addition of a hot tub would be a delight!!!

Even though this house isn't in the Carribbean, we felt like celebrities staying here for the long weekend. The house is spectacular. Lots of Frank Lloyd Wright influences, spectacular views from the decks and practically every room in the house, beautifully
furnished. Easy access to town and the beaches. Well equipped kitchen. A few things didn't seem to work (e.g. outdoor speakers, wet bar fridge) but somehow we survived! Warning - the "fourth" bedroom is really more like a closet. No windows, barely enough
room to turn around in. The other three bedrooms are great, however.

We went to Trinidad to celebrate my dad's 80th birthday and it was the perfect week. The house is beautiful- spacious, beautifully designed and incredibly comfortable with amazing views of the bay. An expensive rental, but worth every penny. The only negative
was the room with bunk beds. Its not really a room - more like a small, windowless cave which is perfect for teenagers who want to sleep late, but doesn't come anywhere close to fitting in with the rest of the house. But even with that drawback, we hope to
go back some day. Heather was very helpful in getting the rental arranged for us and the tiny town of Trinidad was charming.

This was a lovely place to reunitew with good friends whio were here with us to celebrate my daughter's wedding. The property managment was right on top of any question that we had. The scenic view of the oceam and the redwoods can not be beat. The amenities
available in the home for our use were superior. This is a magnificent place to stay with family or friends.

The views and home were spectacular. What a nice place to spend a few days! The floors were not very clean and the oven had not been cleaned (could not be used due to previous spillage).

This is the most beautiful place! Our stay was perfect. The location of this house is great. You feel the peace of isolation, yet you are only about a mile from Trinidad where you can get fresh fish and a grocery store that has everything you need. The temperature was great, the views from the house were awesome. The house was wonderful and truly was "A Sanctuary". I hope to return!!

The home iself is extraordinary. So nice it is hard to leave to visit nearby villages and parks. Every detail was considered in its design - floor to ceiling windows from virtually every vantage point - even the mater bathshower. What a great way to wake up! Always,we had a sense of place and had no need to go out looking for it. Management showed us how where everything was located upon our arrival and was available throughout our stay (though we had no need). We've stayed in some nice places during our travels but none matches Sanctuary Retreat - a truly fitting name!

You need to have a better system for the heat. You roast in the bottom bedroom, to the point of very uncomfortable. There should be a better way to regulate it, very beautiful property, and because of that will have to stay the same way for the asking rental price. Would not allow any large groups as it would ruin such a beautiful place. Love it.

  yes, we adjusted the setting in the bottom bedrooms so that thye would be comfortable. It takes about 24 hours or so for the change to take affect because it is through the water circulated under the floors and it takes awhile for the tiling to change temperature.

I only rented this house for 3 nights, I wish I would have rented it for the entire week. It was worth every penny. As beautiful as the pictures were on the website, you have to be inside this house to truly appreciate the positive vibes!
